Let cushions, covers, and tools dry longer than you think. If the weather is humid, “dry to the touch” is not the same as actually dry. A couple extra hours in the sun or a breezy porch can make a real difference.
Use a moisture absorber
Silica gel packs, reusable dehumidifier tubs, or hanging moisture absorbers help a lot in enclosed boxes. They won’t fix a bad setup by themselves, but they’re useful when the box is used for soft goods like cushions, throws, or seasonal decorations. Allow a little airflow
One non-obvious point: making a box “more sealed” is not always better. If the box is airtight but stores fabric, the moisture from that fabric has nowhere to go.
